The Town of Scott held its March board meeting on Monday, March 20, 2023, at 5 PM, at the home of Town Clerk Jim Van Wychen. All board members present along with Nodji Van Wychen, Mary Shepherd and Larry Johnson.
Chairman Chuck Huffman called the meeting to order and had Mike Hanson and Michelle Clark from the Tomah Area School System present information on the non-recurring operational referendum on the April 2023 ballot. The referendum is for 4 years. Each year is for $2,500,000. The funds will be used to enhance educational and technology programs.
Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of the February town board meeting. The minutes were approved as read.
Paul Shepherd gave the treasurers report. The next highway aids payment will come the first Tuesday in April. Payment in lieu of taxes on federal land will be coming in May. Supervisor David Potter moved and Supervisor Henry Van Wychen seconded motion to approve treasurers report and file for audit. Motion passed.
Larry Johnson gave the road report. There will be a lot of brush to clear off of road right-of-way when snow banks go down. Larry has to do shoulder work on Copper Road before the seal coating is done. Fahrney has to do seal coating from last year’s contract that was not completed. Larry indicated that some of the seal coating is breaking up on Augusta Road. Larry will start patching holes on road once frost is out. Larry will also look into doing brush grinding along road right-of-ways. He is also putting up new town road signs.
For public input Nodji Van Wychen shared that Monroe County is holding just one Clean Sweep Day this year. It will be held on Saturday April 29, from 8 AM to 2 PM, at the Ridgeville landfill site. List of items accepted will be posted on the Town of Scott website.
David Potter gave a report on the Warrens Fire District. The Town of Lincoln Fire District will use the same plan that the Norwalk Fire Department uses. The next Warrens Fire District meeting is March 21.
The Spring General Election will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 7 AM to 8 PM, at the Scott Town Hall.
The Annual Town Meeting for the Town of Scott will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 5 PM, at the Scott Town Hall, 28788 Buckley Avenue. The April Town Board meeting will follow the annual town meeting.
Henry Van Wychen moved and David Potter seconded motion to adjourn March town meeting. Motion approved.
