The Town of Scott held its September board meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, at 5 PM, at the Scott Town Hall, 28788 Buckley Avenue. All board members present along with Mary Shepherd, Nodji Van Wychen and Larry Johnson.

Town Chairman Henry Van Wychen called the meeting to order and Clerk Jim Van Wychen  read the minutes of the August board meeting. Minutes approved as read.

Treasurer Paul Shepherd gave the treasurer’s report. The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds will be transferred to the town’s general account. After the balance of the Town Hall repairs are paid, the remainder of the funds will be used for road improvements to Buckley Avenue. The town’s checkbook balance is $16,165.89. Supervisor Kade Gnewikow moved and Supervisor Tonya Gnewikow seconded motion to approve treasurer’s report and file for audit. Motion passed.

Larry Johnson gave the road report. Crescent Road needs to be graded yet, but Larry is waiting for rain to do that. The Auburn and Azalea Road signs are missing. Town of Byron has not contacted us about them taking over part of Drake Avenue. Jim Van Wychen reported that the Agricultural Road Improvement Program (ARIP) grant is moving forward. The SMA form is being filed and once that is done the town can sign the formal agreement for the Copper Road project.

The Fall General Election is Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024.

For public input it was reported that the bridge inventory program throughout the county is moving forward. The county will mow along the county roads one more time this fall. County Supervisor Nodji Van Wychen reported that the county used a growth retardant on the county roads and may make the product available for the towns to use next year. Also, the cost of putting a center strip on town roads costs 7 cents per foot.

There will be no town meeting in October. The next town meeting will be Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, at 5 p.m., at the Town Hall. Following the town board’s monthly meeting the 2025 Town of Scott budget meeting will be held.

Tonya Gnewikow moved and Kade Gnewikow seconded motion to adjourn September board meeting. Motion passed.
