The Town of Scott Board met on Monday, July 12, 2021, at 5 PM, at the Scott Town Hall. Present were Chairman Chuck Huffman, Supervisor Henry Van Wychen and Clerk Jim Van Wychen. Treasurer Paul Shepherd was absent. Supervisor Dan Draeger has resigned. Others present were Larry Johnson, Lorry Erickson and Dane Pasch.
Chairman Chuck Huffman called the meeting to order and Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of the June 2021 board meeting. The minutes were approved as read with one correction: Carol Huffman was also in attendance at the June meeting.
There was no treasurer’s report because Paul Shepherd was not able to attend.
The town board waved the written resignation procedure for a town supervisor. Because of Dan’s resignation, the town board will be appointing a town resident to fill the remainder of Dan’s term. Anyone interested should contact Chairman Charles Huffman at (608) 315-0056. The appointment will take place at the next town board meeting on Aug. 16, 2021.
Larry Johnson gave the road report. He has the culvert to replace on Coyote Avenue. Chuck reported the roads have been all mowed with the tractor we have on loan from Hillsboro Equipment while the township’s tractor is being repaired. It was decided we would keep our current tractor and look at replacing it in the future. Road work planned for the balance of the year will include widening the shoulder on Copper Road south from county Highway EW. Chuck will get bids on doing the shouldering work.
A sanitary permit issue in the town was reviewed. The Monroe County Sanitation Department has contacted the property owner.
The township’s 2021 property assessment reevaluation is progressing. The Open Book and Board of Review should be scheduled sometime in August 2021. Notices will be sent out when the dates are set.
The town will be getting its new voting machine on August 12, 2021. Jim and Lorry will receive training on how to use it that day.
The next Town Board meeting will be Monday August 16, 2021, at 5 PM, at the Scott Town Hall, 28788 Buckley Avenue. Supervisor Henry Van Wychen moved and Chuck Huffman seconded the motion to adjourn meeting and pay town bills. Motion passed.
