The Town of Scott held its December board meeting on Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, at 5 PM, at the home of Town Clerk Jim Van Wychen. All board members present along with Larry Johnson, Jack Potter, Lorry Erickson, Mary Shepherd and Nodji Van Wychen.

Chairman Chuck Huffman called the meeting to order and Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of November board meeting. Minutes approved as read.

Treasurer Paul Shepherd gave the financial report. The town has received all their income for the 2021 calendar year. Our state highway aid payment for 2022 is $70,644.35 which will be paid quarterly. This is the maximum aid payment we are entitled to. Supervisor Dane Pasch moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded motion to accept treasurer’s report and file for audit. Motion passed.

Larry Johnson gave the town road report. He presented the town with his 2022 snowplowing and road maintenance contract. Snow plowing rate is increasing from $95 to $100 per hour.  Supervisor Henry Van Wychen moved and Dane Pasch seconded a motion to accept Johnson and Sons Excavation and Trucking’s road maintenance contract for 2022. Motion passed. A discussion was held on brush control along the town roads. Larry will discuss with town board what roads to do brushing on. A discussion was held on raising the hourly rate for road maintenance. The town has been paying $15 per hour.  Dane Pasch moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded motion to raise town road maintenance rate to $18 per hour.  Motion passed.

Lorry Erickson presented a plan for setting up the town hall for elections using our new voting machine which includes turning the former cloak room into a voting booth. The town will know after the first week in January if we will have a primary on Feb. 15.  If we have a Primary the changes will have to be done by then. If we have no primary we would have until the April 5 Spring General election to make changes. We will try to do some training on our new Dominion voting machine this coming January. The election clerks for the coming biennium 2022-2023 are: Trey Gnewikow, Kade Gnewikow, Paul & Mary Shepherd, Jamie Potter, Nodji Van Wychen and Lorry Erickson. Henry Van Wychen moved and Dane Pasch seconded motion to approve the election clerks for 2022-2023 election cycle. Motion passed.

For public input a discussion was held on the township being charged a fee for using the Town of Lincoln recycling center. The fee will be discussed this coming year.

The next town meeting is set for Monday, Jan. 17, 2022, at 5 PM, at the home of Town Clerk Jim Van Wychen. Dane Pasch moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded a motion to adjourn December town board meeting and pay current town bills. Motion passed.
