The Town of Scott held its February board meeting on Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, at 5 PM, at the home of Town Clerk Jim Van Wychen. All board members present along with Jack Potter, Lorry Erickson, Nodji Van Wychen, Mary Shepherd and Larry Johnson.
Chairman Charles Huffman called the meeting to order and Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of the January 2023 board meeting. Minutes approved.
Paul Shepherd gave the treasurers report. All tax collections are finalized with Monroe County. It was decided to transfer $5,000 from the money market account to the checking account to cover expenses until the next State Highway Aids comes in April. Supervisor Henry Van Wychen moved and Supervisor David Potter seconded motion to approve treasurers report and file for audit. Motion passed.
Larry Johnson gave the road report. Lot of snow plowing, sanding and tree removal since the last meeting. Larry has road signs for Copper Road. Nodji Van Wychen will pick up the new town road signs which the town has to install. The county will put up road signs on county roads.
The new Fire District was discussed. It is being established so Town of Lincoln Fire Department will be able to qualify for more grant opportunities. David Potter will represent the Town of Scott on the new Fire District board.
The Wisconsin Towns Association Monroe County Unit will meet Feb. 16 in Wilton.
The Wisconsin Towns Association Spring District Meeting will be Feb. 24 in Tomah. Chuck and David will attend
The Spring Primary will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the Scott Town Hall.
Lorry Erickson gave a report on the Warrens Area Foundation which is being established. It will be organized as a 501(c)(3). Donations to the foundation will be tax deductible. Funds donated to the foundation will be used for community projects
Next town meeting will be Monday, March 20, at the Town Clerk’s home at 5 PM
The Spring General Election will be held on April 4 at Town of Scott Hall from 7 AM to 8 PM.
David Potter moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded motion to adjourn the town meeting. Motion passed.
