The Town of Scott held its 2018 Annual Town Meeting on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at 5:30 PM, at the Scott Hall Town Hall. All town board members were present along with Jack Potter, Lorry Erickson, Mary Shepherd, Nodji Van Wychen and Larry Johnson.
Chairman Charles Huffman called the meeting to order and Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of 2017 annual town meeting. Minutes approved as read. Treasurer Paul Shepherd and Jim Van Wychen gave a financial report for 2017. For 2017 the town spent $78,387.71 on town road maintenance and repair. Most of that amount was on widening a 2-mile stretch of Copper Road. The town will receive its maximum state highway aids for 2018.
A discussion was held on the town’s support of the Pine Grove Cemetery. Over the last five years, we have averaged over $500.00 per year in monetary donations along with gravel purchases. Nodji Van Wychen moved that the town board be given the approval to spend up to $500.00 cash and one load of gravel for the cemetery if after the May 21 Pine Grove Cemetery Meeting they show that it is needed for 2018. Jack Potter seconded motion. Motion passed.
Paul Shepherd moved and Lorry Erickson seconded a motion to approve Timberwood Bank as the town’s depository. Motion passed.
A discussion was held on the road work completed for 2017 and what is planned for 2018. Copper Road from Buckley Road south to State Highway 173 was widened out and sand fill hauled in and gravel hauled in to widen road about 4 feet. This was done by last September and the truck traffic in the fall helped pack the gravel in. For 2018 work is planned on Copper Road to patch in where the five tubes were replaced last year, shaping the area widened out and seal coating that area. Also for 2018, one-half mile stretch of Drake Avenue and two-tenth mile on Crescent Road will be ground up and some additional gravel hauled in where needed. Jack Potter moved and Lorry Erickson seconded a motion to have town board do any road work that the Town Board deems necessary for 2018. Motion passed.
Dan Draeger moved and Mary Shepherd seconded a motion to approve liquor license for Van Wychen Wines Inc. Motion passed.
For public input, Nodji Van Wychen indicated the county Highway EW from Auger Road to the I-94 Warrens interchange will be redone.
Open Book for 2018 assessment role will be held on Friday May 4, 2018, from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, at the Scott Hall Town Hall.
