The Town of Scott held its March Town Board Meeting on Monday, March 18, 2019, at 5:30 PM, at the home of Town Clerk Jim Van Wychen.  All board members were present along with Mary Shepherd, Lorry Erickson, Jack Potter and Larry Johnson.

Chairman Chuck Huffman called the meeting to order and Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of February board meeting.  Minutes approved as read.

Paul Shepherd gave the treasurer’s report.  We will have to wait until our state highway aids payment arrives in April in order to pay the balance of Scott Construction bill.  Supervisor Henry Van Wychen moved and Dan Draeger seconded a motion to approve treasurer’s report and file for audit.  Motion passed.

Larry Johnson gave the town road report.  We should have enough sand and salt for the rest of the season.  Larry put up the weight limit signs on our town roads.  Once the frost is out and the roads dry up, he will look at what it will take to repair spots on Copper Road that broke up last fall due to heavy truck traffic.  He will also clear out some trees from road right-of-way after the snow melts.

For public input Chuck gave a report of the Monroe County Economic Development Conference he attended in February.  Chuck also attended the Monroe County Unit meeting of the Wisconsin Towns Association.  He got some information on the town applying for grant funding to help bring high speed internet to our area.  Chuck, Dan and Henry attended a meeting put on by the Monroe County Solid Waste Department.  They got some interesting information on recycling and composting at the Sparta High School, and the county landfill’s new leachate recovery program.

April 2 will be the Spring General Election at the Town of Scott hall on Buckley Avenue from 7am to 8pm.  The election notices are posted on the town’s website and on the posting location in front of the Town Hall.

The Town of Scott Annual Meeting will be Tuesday, April 23, at 5:30 PM, at the Scott Town Hall.  The April town board meeting will follow.  Supervisor Dan Draeger moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded a motion to adjourn the March board meeting.  Motion passed.
