The Town of Scott held its board meeting on Monday, Jan. 13, 2020, at 5 PM, at the home of Town Clerk Jim Van Wychen. All board members present along with Lorry Erickson, Mary Shepherd and Nodji Van Wychen.
Chairman Chuck Huffman called the meeting to order and Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of the December 2019 board meeting. The minutes were corrected that the treasurer’s report was for month of November only. Minutes accepted as corrected.
Paul Shepherd gave the treasurer’s report for December 2019. Tax collections have been coming in. The town received our first General Transportation Aid Payment along with a Supplemental Transportation Aid payment. Supervisor Dan Draeger moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded a motion to approve treasurer’s report and file for audit. Motion passed. Supervisor Henry Van Wychen moved and Dan Draeger seconded a motion approve town membership in the Warrens Area Business Association. Motion approved.
Chuck gave the town road report. Johnson and Sons Excavation and Trucking is doing the town’s snow plowing and sanding as needed. A logger will be doing some logging off of Crescent Road this winter. A discussion was held on possibly straightening Crescent Road. The clerk will check with Oakdale Electric Co-op to see it would be possible to put road along the electric co-op’s right-of-way. This would eliminate a sharp curve in road and going through a wetland area. Monroe County Highway is requesting updated ordinances from towns for ATV and UTV use. Clerk will check with county highway department and report at next meeting.
For public input, Nodji Van Wychen explained that Monroe County did not fund the economic development director position for 2020. Therefore, there will be no economic development director for coming year and no economic development program in Monroe County this year.
The following individuals have received election worker training: Paul and Mary Shepherd, Nodji Van Wychen, Carol Huffman and Lorry Erickson. The training certifies them for 2020 and 2021 election cycles. There will be a primary in the township on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2020.
The Town of Scott will host a Wisconsin Towns Association unit meeting for Monroe County on Thursday Feb. 20, 2020, at the Ground Round in Tomah. County unit meetings are held quarterly and hosted by townships that are members on an alphabetical rotation. So, the town hosts a meeting every 4 to 5 years. The Wisconsin Towns Association will hold a district meeting on Feb. 7, 2020, in Marshfield. The town chairman and supervisors will attend to be certified for Board of Reviews for two years.
The next town board meeting will be held Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2020, at 5 PM, at the home of Clerk Jim Van Wychen. Dan Draeger moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded a motion to adjourn town meeting and pay bills. Motion passed.
