The Town of Scott held its 2018 budget meeting on November 14, 2017, at 5 PM, at the Scott Town Hall. Board members present were: Chuck Huffman, Jim Van Wychen, Paul Shepherd, Henry Van Wychen, along with residents Mary Shepherd, Nodji Van Wychen, Lorry Erickson, Jack Potter, William Brunner, Charles Brunner and town patrolman Larry Johnson.
Chairman Chuck Huffman called the budget meeting to order and Clerk Jim Van Wychen went over the 2018 budget. The total budget is projected at $104,055.26 for the operation of the town. Henry Van Wychen moved and Jack Potter seconded a motion to approve the 2018 budget for the Town of Scott. Motion passed. Lorry Erickson moved and Paul Shepherd seconded motion to adjourn the 2018 budget meeting. Motion passed.
Chuck Huffman called the November 2017 Town Board meeting to order. Dan Draeger was present for the board meeting along with the rest of the board members and town residents present at the budget meeting.
Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of the September 2017 board meeting. Minutes approved as read. Paul Shepherd gave the treasurer’s report. The town has received all of the highway aid payments and shared revenue payments from the state. Henry Van Wychen moved and Chuck Huffman seconded a motion to approve treasurer’s report and file for audit. Motion passed.
Larry Johnson gave the town road report. Road patching is done. Some holes need additional blacktop where tubes were replaced on Copper Road. Sand and salt are mixed for this winter season. Trees still need to be taken down on Drake Avenue. The rate for snow plowing this season is $90.00 per hour. Azalea Road signs on the old section of County Highway EE are still not up. Nodji will check with Monroe County Highway Commissioner to get that done.
Jim Van Wychen covered the inspection of the Jim Frei property done by General Engineering Company, the town’s building inspector. It was GEC’s recommendation that the property be razed. Henry Van Wychen moved and Dan Draeger seconded a motion to require Jim Frei to raze the residence on the property. Property should be razed within 30 days of his notice from the town. Motion passed.
Dan Draeger moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded a motion to exempt the treasurer’s bond for the town collection of property taxes. Motion passed. For public input Nodji Van Wychen explained the requirements for mowing roads for 2018. Invasive species survey may have to be done prior to mowing.
The next town board meeting will be held on Monday, December 18, 2017, at 6 PM at the home of Town Clerk Jim Van Wychen, 3365 Auger Road. Dan Draeger moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded a motion to adjourn the November town board meeting. Motion passed.
