The Town of Scott held its April board meeting on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at 6PM, at the Scott Town Hall. All board members were present along with Mary Shepherd, Nodji Van Wychen, Jack Potter, Lorry Erickson and Larry Johnson.
Chairman Chuck Huffman called the meeting to order and Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of March board meeting. Minutes approved as read.
Paul Shepherd gave the treasurer’s report. Scott Construction bill for balance of 2018 road work has been paid. Payment in lieu of taxes from federal government land will be here by the end of April. Supervisor Dan Draeger moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded a motion to approve financial report and file for audit. Motion passed.
Larry Johnson gave a report on road work that needs to be done: trees need to be cut along Crescent Road, several tubes under Crescent Road need to be replaced, one tube on Autumn Road going to the Monroe County Flowage needs to be lowered, spots that broke up last fall on Copper Road need to be filled with black top and compacted. The board agreed to have Larry get two “water over road” signs.
Bid was reviewed for seal coating a 12-foot wide by 2-mile long stretch of Copper Road. Board decided to wait until next month to see what to do about Copper Road. A discussion on grading roads was held. Supervisor Henry Van Wychen moved and Dan Draeger seconded a motion to hire Mike Strohmeyer to grade 12 miles of roads for $1,500. Motion passed.
Henry Van Wychen moved and Dan Draeger seconded a motion to donate $150 to the Town of Lincoln Fire Department for July 4th fireworks. Motion passed.
For public input Monroe County Supervisor Nodji Van Wychen reported that all the towns and villages in Monroe County have agreed to the 30-cent per capita assessment to maintain the recycling program in Monroe County.
May 16 is a town official workshop in Tomah that Chuck will attend. May 16 is also the Wisconsin Towns Association county unit meeting in Sparta.
Open book for the 2019 assessment roll will be held Saturday, May 4, from 2PM to 4PM at the Scott Town Hall. Board of Review for the 2019 assessment roll will be held on Friday, May 24, from 8AM to 10AM at the Town Hall. The next board meeting will be held May 20 at 5PM at the Scott Town Hall. Supervisor Dan Draeger moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded a motion to adjourn and pay bills. Motion passed.
