The Town of Scott held its April 2023 town board meeting on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at the Scott Town Hall following the 2023 Annual Town Meeting. Attendees were Charles Huffman, Henry Van Wychen, David Potter, Paul Shepherd, Mary Shepherd and Jim Van Wychen.

Town Chairman Charles Huffman called the meeting to order and Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of the March 2023 board meeting. Minutes approved as read.

Paul Shepherd gave the treasurer’s report. All property tax settlements have been completed with the county. The town has a checkbook balance of $27,687.29 and a money market account with $139,070.40. The money market account includes the ARPA funds of $14,444.26 which have not been designated yet. The completed Annual Town Financial Form CT will be reviewed at the May town board meeting. Supervisor Henry Van Wychen moved and Supervisor David Potter seconded a motion to approve town financial report and file for audit.

The town road report was presented. Henry Van Wychen and David Potter viewed Crescent Road and Drake Avenue and reported it has potholes that need to be graded out and additional gravel added. We have received complaints from Town of Byron residents about the condition of Drake Avenue.

Road banns are off now so the town will have Larry Johnson  work on town roads as soon as the weather permits. Larry is also in contact with Fahrner Construction to get seal coating finished on Copper Road from Buckley Avenue to county Highway EW. Larry is also looking at what can be done as far as brushing along our town roads.

Larry will be installing three new township fire numbers. The property owners will be billed $70 for the sign and installation.

A discussion was held on the campers that are parked on the town road at the intersection of Crescent Road and state Highway 173. Landowner where the campers came from will be contacted.

For public input Monroe County Supervisor Nodji Van Wychen reported that state Highway 21 from the Ocean Spray receiving station to the Juneau County line will be resurfaced this summer.

There is a Monroe County Clean Sweep Day on Saturday, April 29, at the Monroe County Landfill. The annual Clean-Up Day for Town of Lincoln and Town of Scott residents is Saturday, May 13, at the Town of Lincoln recycling center. Details of both events are posted on the Town of Scott website.
