The Town of Scott held its August board meeting on Monday, Aug. 10, 2020, at 5 PM, at the Scott Town Hall. All board members present along with Jack Potter, Lorry Erickson, Mary Shepherd, Nodji Van Wychen and Larry Johnson.

Chairman Chuck Huffman called the meeting to order and Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of the July 2020 board meeting. Minutes approved as read.

Paul Shepherd gave the treasurers report. The town still has three revenue checks coming in for the balance of the year: August property tax settlement, highway aids payment and shared revenue payment. Once received the board will decide what roadwork can be done yet this year. Supervisor Dan Draeger moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded a motion to approve the treasurers report and file for audit. Motion carried.

Chuck Huffman and Larry Johnson gave the road report. Town roads have been mowed for the second time. Some cold mix patching has been done on Brunswick Avenue and Augusta Road. Crescent Road from county Highway EW to state Highway 173 was seal coated. Larry will remove trees from the road right-of-way on Crescent Road and areas affected by recent storms. Supervisor Henry Van Wychen moved and Dan Draeger seconded a motion to seat coat 15-foot wide section on two miles of Copper Road north of state Highway 173. Motion passed.

Dan Draeger moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded a motion to purchase a new ICE voting machine for use starting in 2022. The Edge voting machine we have now will no longer have technical support available after the 2021 election cycle. Motion passed.

For public input Nodji Van Wychen reported that the Monroe County Board will vote on a resolution to have $170,000 taken from the county’s contingency fund to pay for new county and town road signs. The resolution would need a two-thirds majority vote to pass. Nodji said she wasn’t sure the resolution would pass.

The Partisan Primary Election will be held Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 7 AM to 8 PM at the Scott Town Hall.

The date of the next town board meeting was set for Monday, Sept. 21, at 5 PM, at the Scott Town Hall.
