The Town of Scott held its August board meeting on Monday, Aug. 19, 2024, at 6 PM at the Scott Town Hall, 28788 Buckley Avenue. All board members present along with Mary Shepherd, Nodji Van Wychen and Larry Johnson.
Chairman Henry Van Wychen called the meeting to order. Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of the July board meeting. Minutes approved as read.
Paul Shepherd gave the treasurer’s report. As of the August meeting, all current bills have been paid and we have a balance of $27,274.42 in the checking account.
Larry Johnson gave the town road report. All roads have been mowed. Some roads will be mowed in September as needed. Crescent Road and Drake Avenue will be graded and gravel added as needed.
The Agricultural Road Improvement Program (ARIP) grant the Town of Scott received for the 4-mile stretch of Copper Road from County Highway EW to State Highway 173 was discussed. The township would be responsible for 10 percent of the cost of redoing the road. Supervisor Tonya Gnewikow moved and Supervisor Kade Gnewikow seconded the motion to approve the ARIP project for Copper Road. Motion passed.
The Town of Scott had 20 voters for the August primary election. The total number of registered voters for the township is 46.
The new railing has been installed on the new handicap-accessible ramp for the front door of the town hall. Henry Van Wychen is looking for an indoor chemical toilet for the town hall. It was suggested that next year when the railing is painted that all the windows be repainted.
The Town Board is changing it’s meeting to the second Wednesday of the month starting with our September meeting. The next town board meeting will be on Wednesday Sept. 11, 2024, at 5 PM, at the Town Hall. Kade Gnewikow moved and Tonya Gnewikow seconded a motion to adjourn the August board meeting. Motion passed.
