The Town of Scott held its December 2019 board meeting on Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, at 5 PM, at the home of Town Clerk Jim Van Wychen. Board members present: Chuck Huffman, Dan Draeger, Henry Van Wychen and Jim Van Wychen. Treasurer Paul Shepherd not present but he e-mailed his financial report for November-December.

Chairman Chuck Huffman called the meeting to order and Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of November board meeting and 2020 budget meeting. Minutes approved as read. 

Board reviewed the treasurer’s report. The 2019 real estate bills should be printed soon and Paul will get them mailed out. Supervisor Henry Van Wychen moved and Supervisor Dan Draeger seconded a motion to approve treasurer’s report and file for audit. Motion passed.

Chuck gave the road report as Larry Johnson was unable to attend our meeting. Chuck had 2 hours helping the snowplow driver due to no frost in the roads. Crescent Road had to be plowed twice for snow because of no frost in road.

Tomah Area Schools Superintendent Cindy Zharte attended our meeting and updated the board on the financial status of the school district and educational programing that will be coming in 2020. Cindy also mentioned that she will be retiring in June 2020.

A discussion was held on the assessor’s contract with Gardiner Appraisals. Henry Van Wychen moved and Dan Draeger seconded a motion to approve a two-year maintenance contract and one-year reassessment contract for 2020 -2023 assessment. Motion passed. 

Election workers appointed for the 2020-2021 election cycle include: Lorry Erickson, Paul and Mary Shepherd, Carol Huffman and Nodji Van Wychen. All election workers are nonpartisan. Election workers will attend training on Friday, Dec. 13.

Next town board meeting will be held on Monday, Jan. 13, 2020, at 5 PM, at the town clerk’s home. Dan Draeger moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded a meeting to adjourn December board meeting. Motion passed.
