The Town of Scott held its board meeting on Monday, Dec. 18, 2023, at 5 PM, at the home of Town Clerk Jim Van Wychen, 3365 Auger Road, Warrens, Wis. All board members present along with Nodji Van Wychen and Larry Johnson.
Chairman Henry Van Wychen called the meeting to order at 5 PM. Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of the November 2023 board meeting. Minutes approved as read.
Paul Shepherd gave the treasurer’s report. All income for the township has been received. Real estate tax bills were sent out Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023. Payment of tax bills can be made in person to Paul by appointment. Supervisor David Potter moved and Supervisor Kade Gnewikow seconded motion to approve treasurer’s report and file for audit. Motion passed.
Larry Johnson gave his town road report. Snowplowing rate for 2024 will be $105.00 per hour. The road sign on county Highway EW and Crescent Road is missing. Nodji Van Wychen will contact the county highway office to get sign replaced. Henry Van Wychen explained the work Gerke Construction did on the gravel portion of Crescent Road and Copper Road. Approximately half of their bill will be paid in 2023 and the balance in 2024.
A discussion was held on where to spend the American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) funds we have. Use of the funds has to be designated for a project by December 2024. Discussion was on replacing the ramp and steps on the Scott Town Hall. We will get bids from two contractors on those projects. A discussion was held on putting in a chemical toilet in the town hall. Clerk gave a suggestion of what we could use. No decision was made. Will look into other toilets and what we could do to replace old outhouse.
Clerk explained about the Internet Speed Test that can be made through the State of Wisconsin. The more speed tests we can get from town residents, the better standing we will have to get high speed internet in our area. Town clerk will get information on filing speed test and send to Town of Scott residents.
Election worker training was held on Dec. 13, 2023, at the Town of Lincoln Fire Department building. Paul and Mary Shepherd, Jamie Potter and Nodji Van Wychen completed the training.
The January 2024 board meeting will be held Monday, Jan. 15, 2024, at 5 PM, at the home of Town Clerk Jim Van Wychen. Kade Gnewikow moved and David Potter seconded motion to adjourn December 2023 Town of Scott board meeting.
