The Town of Scott held its February board meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, at 5 PM at the home of Town Clerk Jim VanWychen, 3365 Auger Road, Warrens. All board members present along with Mary Shepherd, Larry Johnson and Nodji VanWychen.
Chairman Henry VanWychen called the meeting to order. Clerk Jim VanWychen read the minutes of the January 2026 board meeting. Minutes approved as read with one correction: Mike Gnewikow completed the election worker certification.
Treasurer Paul Shepherd gave his report. Most of the town taxes have been collected. Those not collected get turned over to the county for collection. Paul will settle up with county next week. This is the first year with Monroe County’s new tax collection procedure. Everything had to be done digitally with the county. Kade Gnewikow moved and Tonya Gnewikow seconded a motion to approve treasurer’s report and file for audit. Motion approved.
Larry Johnson gave the town road report. Snow plowing was done four times in the last four weeks. Larry will also review the town road signs that need to be fixed or replaced. Henry VanWychen called Svet Roussev, engineer for the Copper Road ARIP grant project. The timeline for the second half of the Copper Road ARIP project was discussed. The following timeline was established:
- April 6, 2026 – bid request will be mailed to local newspapers
- April 13, 2026 – first request for bids publishing.
- April 20, 2026 – second request for bids publishing.
- April 30, 2026 – mandatory site meeting at the junction of Copper Road and Buckley Avenue.
- May 7, 2026, – bid opening at 10 a.m. at the Town of Scott Hall, 28788 Buckley Ave. Warrens, WI.
The project will begin the last week of October, 2026, and be completed by December 31, 2026. The paving portion of the bid will be completed by July 30, 2027. A discussion was held on using a geo fabric rather than geo grid material. Svet felt the geo grid material is better for our project. So, we will stay with geo grid material.
