The Town of Scott held its January board meeting on Monday, Jan. 11, 2021, at 5 PM, at the home of Town Clerk Jim Van Wychen. All town board members present along with Mary Shepherd, Nodji Van Wychen and Larry Johnson.
Chairman Chuck Huffman called the meeting to order and Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of the December 2020 board meeting. Minutes approved as read.
Paul Shepherd gave the treasurers report. Tax collections have been coming in. The taxes collected by Dec. 31 will be forwarded to County, School District and Technical College by Jan. 15. We have received our first state highway aids payments, so we will be able to pay balance owed to Scott Construction for roadwork done last summer. Supervisor Henry Van Wychen moved and Dan Draeger seconded a motion to approve treasurers report and file for audit. Motion passed.
Larry Johnson gave a town road report. He has plowed and sanded the town roads a couple times this year. He will be cutting brush along Crescent Road between County Highway EW and State Highway 173.
A discussion was held on whether the town could sell the backhoe attachment. After checking with the county it was decided that the town could sell the backhoe attachment. Henry Van Wychen offered $800. Supervisor Dan Draeger moved and Chuck Huffman seconded motion to sell the backhoe to Henry Van Wychen. Motion approved with Henry Van Wychen abstaining.
A Primary Election will be held for State Superintendent of Public Instruction on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021. The Spring General Election will be held Tuesday, April 6, 2021.
The next town board meeting is Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, at 5 PM, at the home of Town Clerk Jim Van Wychen.
Dan Draeger moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded a motion to adjourn and pay town bills. Motion passed.
