The Town of Scott held its January board meeting on Wednesday, Jan, 8, 2025, at 5 PM, at the home of Town Clerk Jim Van Wychen, 3365 Auger Road. All board members present along with Nodji Van Wychen, Mary Voltz and Larry Johnson.
Chairman Henry Van Wychen called the January board meeting to order and Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of the December 2024 board meeting. Minutes approved as read.
Treasurer Paul Shepherd gave the treasurer’s report. We have received the first Wisconsin State Highway Aids payment for 2025. Paul has started collection of the property taxes. First payment of the tax collections to the County, Tomah School District and Western Technical College are due next week. Supervisor Kade Gnewikow moved and Tonya Gnewikow seconded a motion to approve the treasurer’s report and file for audit. Motion passed.
Larry Johnson gave the town road report. Roads have been plowed or sanded several times in December. We are trying to get approval from Meadow Valley Wildlife Area to clear trees on Copper Road before the Agricultural Road Improvement Program (ARIP) project is started this summer.
Primary Election is scheduled for Feb. 18, 2025. Only the Tomah School Board will have a primary. The General Election is April 1, 2025. Elections for all the town offices for the Town of Scott will be held this year.
For public input Larry Johnson mentioned the train speed through Warrens is increasing from 25 mph to 45 mph. Kade Gnewikow said the Warrens Fire Department will be doing training on burning a house down in Norway Ridge sometime in January depending on weather.
The next town board meeting is Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025. at 5 PM, at the town clerk’s home.
Tonya Gnewikow moved and Kade Gnewikow seconded a motion to adjourn the January 2025 board meeting. Motion passed.
