The Town of Scott held its March Board Meeting on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at 5 PM, at the home of Town Clerk Jim Van Wychen. All board members present along with Mary Shepherd and Nodji Van Wychen.

Chairman Chuck Huffman called the meeting to order. Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of the February 2022 board meeting. Minutes approved as read.

Paul Shepherd gave the treasurer’s report. Most checks have cleared this past month except for the yearly fire protection fees to the Town of Lincoln Fire Department. We will receive our second highway aids payment from the state in early April. In late April, we will receive our payment in lieu of taxes on the federal government land in our township. Supervisor Henry Van Wychen moved and Supervisor David Potter seconded motion to approve the treasurer’s report and file for audit. Motion passed.

Larry Johnson gave the town road patrolman’s report. Some signs need to be put back up or replaced. We need to replace sign on Buckley Avenue bridge, yield sign on Curtis Stoll Road and Copper Road junction. Trees that are tipping into the right-of-way on Augusta Road, Crescent Road and Drake Avenue need to be removed. Larry will also look at continuing to widen out the 1.2-mile stretch on Copper Road from Brunswick Avenue to County Hwy EW. Chuck will get some bids on what it would cost to seal coat some of the roads in the township.

There will be a County Clean Sweep Say on Saturday, April 30, at the Monroe County Landfill in Norwalk. Information on what will be accepted is posted on the county and township websites.

The Town Board discussed an Ordinance for Alternative Claims Procedure. This ordinance would allow the Town Clerk to pay routine town bills between town board meetings. It will be voted on at the April town board meeting. Click here to see the draft copy of the ordinance.

David Potter moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded a motion to reimburse Nodji Van Wychen $163.47 for three new tables purchased for the town hall for use at elections and town board meetings. Chuck will also look at acquiring a new US flag for the town hall.
