The Town of Scott held its March Town Board Meeting on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 5 PM, at the home of Town Clerk Jim Van Wychen, 3365 Auger Road, Warrens, Wis. All board members present along town residents Mary Voltz and Nodji Van Wychen.
Chairman Henry Van Wychen called the meeting to order. Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of the Feb. 12 town board meeting. Minutes approved as read.
Paul Shepherd gave the town treasurer’s report. With current bills paid the town has a checkbook balance of $55,205.46. Bids for the Agricultural Road Improvement Program (ARIP) project will be let out on April 9, 2025. Supervisor Tonya Gnewikow moved and Supervisor Kade Gnewikow seconded a motion to approve the treasurer’s report and file for audit. Motion passed.
Larry Johnson was not present to give a town road report. Monroe County Highway Committee member Nodji Van Wychen is getting information about spraying town roads with a grass and weed retardant. The Monroe County Highway Department used it last year with good results. It reduced mowing to one time in the fall. The town will discuss this further at the April board meeting.
The town will look into becoming part of an Agricultural Enterprise Area (AEA) at the April meeting. If approved this would allow farmland in the township to be eligible for a tax credit. The AEA would not affect the taxes collected by the township.
The Town of Scott Annual Town Meeting and April Town Board Meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the Scott Town Hall, 28788 Buckley Avenue. The Annual Town Meeting will start at 5 PM with the April Town Board Meeting to follow.
Kade Gnewikow moved and Tonya Gnewikow seconded a motion to adjourn the March Town Board Meeting. Motion passed.
