The Town of Scott held its May meeting on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 5 PM, at the Scott Town Hall, 28788 Buckley Avenue. Board members present: Henry Van Wychen, Kade Gnewikow, Paul Shepherd and Jim Van Wychen. Others present: Larry Johnson, Mary Shepherd and Nodji Van Wychen.
Town Chairman Henry Van Wychen called the meeting to order. Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of April town board meeting. Minutes approved as read.
Paul Shepherd gave the treasurer’s report. We have received the payment in lieu of taxes from the federal government. Our check book balance is $93,718.46. Supervisor Kade Gnewikow moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded motion to approve treasurer’s report and file for audit. Motion passed.
Larry Johnson gave the road report. Tree removal and road patching was done. A discussion on the seal coating bids from Scott Construction and Fahrner Construction was held. Kade Gnewikow moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded motion to use Fahrner Construction to do seal coating for this year. Motion passed. Seal coating of town roads will take place the first part of June. Henry Van Wychen will meet with the Town of Byron next month to see if the Town of Byron will take over road maintenance of the Town of Scott’s portion of the Drake Avenue.
The town received one application to fill the vacant town board seat. Tonya Gnewikow submitted a resume on her background and qualifications for the open postion. Paul Shepherd moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded a motion to approve Tonya Gnewikow to fill the unexpired term of David Potter. Motion passed.
For public input Nodji Van Wychen indicated the Monroe County Highway Department received a federal grant to redo County Highway ET. The board also received a thank-you note from the Pine Grove Cemetery Association for the town’s help with the upkeep of the Pine Grove Cemetery.
