The Town of Scott, Monroe County, held its May town board meeting on Wednesday, May 15, 2025, at 5 PM, at the Scott Town Hall, 28788 Buckley Avenue.  The following were in attendance: Henry Van Wychen, Kade Gnewikow, Tonya Gnewikow, Paul Shepherd, Jim Van Wychen, Nodji Van Wychen and Larry Johnson.

Town Chairman Henry Van Wychen called the meeting to order and Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of the April 2025 town board meeting. Minutes approved as read.

Paul Shepherd gave the treasurer’s report. Income for the past month included Wisconsin Department of Transportation general transportation aids payment of $18,010.22, Monroe County 2025 lottery credit of $300.86 and State of Wisconsin aid-in-lieu of taxes of $54,611.52. Expenses for the month totaled $15,469.52. Checkbook balance is $109,462.08. Tonya Gnewikow moved and Kade Gnewikow seconded a motion to approve treasurer’s report and file for audit. Motion approved.

Larry Johnson gave the road report. Drake Avenue was repaired. Gravel was added and regraded several times. Larry will monitor that road to see if additional grading is needed. A discussion was held on spraying town roads with a herbicide to save on mowing of town roads. It was decided to continue mowing town roads as in the past.

The progress on the Agricultural Road Improvement Program (ARIP) project for Copper Road was discussed. Bids are in and were supposed to be awarded at tonight’s meeting, but because environmental impact studies won’t be done until the first of June, no bids were awarded. Project engineer Svet Roussev, was on a conference call to discuss the environmental impact studies. It was decided to have a town meeting on Monday, June 2, 2025, to discuss if we will have to delay the start of the road project until next year. Contractors have to have a starting date of June 15.

The Monroe County Solid Waste office will hold an electronic recycling program this fall. The Town of Scott will tentatively do this the first week of September. More details will be available after our June meeting.

The next Town Board meeting will be on Monday, June 2 at 5 PM.  There will NOT be a board meeting on June 11. The July board meeting will be on Wednesday, July 9.

Henry Van Wychen moved and Kade Gnewikow seconded a motion to adjourn the May town board meeting. Motion passed.
