The Town of Scott held its November board meeting on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019, at 5 PM, at the Scott Town Hall. All board members present along with Mary Shepherd, Lorry Erickson, Nodji Van Wychen and Larry Johnson.
Chairman Chuck Huffman called the meeting to order and Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of the September board meeting. Minutes approved as read. Paul Shepherd gave the treasurer’s report. Since the last meeting we have received our last state highway aid payment and state shared revenue payment of 2019. Supervisor Henry Van Wychen moved and Dan Draeger seconded a motion to approve treasurer’s report and file for audit. Motion passed.
Larry Johnson gave the town road report. The sand and salt are mixed already. He has had to plow snow once already this season. The snowplow rate has increased from $90 to $95 for 2019-2020. There are two spots on Copper Road that have broken up this fall. We will have to wait until spring to repair them.
The Town Board reviewed the building inspector contract that we have General Engineering Company out of Portage. Supervisor Dan Draeger moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded a motion to approve the contract with GEC. Motion passed. Henry Van Wychen moved and Dan Draeger seconded a motion for the township to purchase a new plat book for the town. Cost is $30. Motion passed.
The Wisconsin Towns Association requested our participation in their Town Advocacy Program. Cost is $33. Dan Draeger moved and Henry Van Wychen seconded a motion for the town to participate WTA Advocacy Program. Motion passed. The town also reviewed the 2020 fire contract we have with the Town of Lincoln Fire Department. Cost for 2020 will be $8,170.75. Henry Van Wychen moved and Dan Draeger seconded motion to approve the 2020 fire contract. Motion passed. The Monroe County Local History Room requested a donation to fund operations of the history room. They have archived some of our early town records, making them available to the general public. Henry Van Wychen moved and Dan Draeger seconded a motion to donated $100 to the Monroe County Local History Room. Motion passed.
The Wisconsin Towns Association county unit meeting will be held in Sparta on Thursday, Nov. 21. Chuck will attend. Our town will host the February 2020 WTA county unit meeting in Tomah. We are checking on meeting locations.
The next town meeting will be Monday, Dec. 9, 2019, at 5 PM, at the home of Town Clerk Jim Van Wychen, 3365 Auger Road.
