The Town of Scott held its September town board meeting on Wednesday September 16, 2026 at 5:00 PM at the Town of Scott Hall, 28788 Buckley Ave. All board members present along with Nodji Van Wychen, Mary Shepherd and Josh Johnson. Chairman, Henry Van Wychen called the meeting to order and clerk, Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of August 2026 board meeting. Minutes approved as read. Treasurer, Paul Shepherd gave the treasurers report. The town has a checking balance of $32,738.73 and a money market balance of $9,616.46. The ARIP expenses on Copper Road have been submitted for reimbursement from the state. March 15, 2027 or first installment for repayment of our loan to Board of Commissioner of Public Lands will be due. Tonya Gnewikow, supervisor moved and Kade Gnewikow supervisor seconded motion to approve treasurers report and file for audit. Motion passed.
The fall general election will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2026 from 7AM to 8PM at the Town of Scott Hall.
Josh Johnson gave the town road report. Roads have been mowed and tree removal on Augusta Road has been completed. After cranberry harvest the town road signs will be reviewed and replace the ones that have faded out and can not be read. Jim Van Wychen attended the Monroe County Unit of the Wisconsin Towns Association in August. The main agenda item was the 2% fire dues that the town receives from the state of Wisconsin. This 2% must be paid to the local fire department that provides fire protection to our township. The Warrens Fire District provides fire services to the Town of Scott.
Nodji Van Wychen, Monroe County Board District 2 supervisor gave a report on Monroe County issues. Monroe County has a new County Administrator; Wes Revels will run as a write in candidate for Monroe County Sheriff and the Monroe County Land Fill possible closure due to now enough revenue from usage to stay open and the ultimate cost of closure and maintenance fees to cover closure fees for perpetuity.
There will be no town meeting in the month of October. The next town board meeting will be Wednesday, November 11, 2026 at 5 PM. Following the regular board meeting the town will hold its 2027 Town of Scott Budget meeting. Kade Gnewikow. moved and Tonya Gnewikow seconded motion to adjourn the September board meeting. Motion passed.
