The Town of Scott, Monroe County, WI, held its July board meeting on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 5 PM, at the Scott Town Hall, 28788 Buckley Avenue, Warrens, WI.  Board members present: Kade Gnewikow, Tonya Gnewikow, Paul Shepherd and Jim Van Wychen. Others present were Mary Shepherd, Nodji Van Wychen and Larry Johnson.

Because Chairman Henry Van Wychen was absent from the meeting, Supervisor Kade Gnewikow called the meeting to order. Clerk Jim Van Wychen read the minutes of the June 10, 2025, special board meeting. One correction was made to the minutes. Meeting was held at 11 AM; not 11 PM. Minutes were approved with the correction to the time of day that the meeting was held.

Paul Shepherd gave the treasurer’s report. Third quarter state general transportation aid of $18,010.22 was received. The June 30, 2025, bank balance is $101,967.68.  Request for reimbursement of Agricultural Road Improvement Program (ARIP) project expenses will be submitted for the first two quarters of 2025. The town has been approved for a $500,000 loan from the Board of Public Lands which will be used to pay invoices relating to the Copper Road ARIP project. Tonya Gnewikow moved and Kade Gnewikow seconded a motion to approve treasurer’s report and file for audit. Motion passed.

Larry Johnson gave the town road report. Town roads have been mowed. Plan is to mow town roads one more time this year.

The Town Hall windows and doors been repainted and the railing on the ramp entrance was sealed.

A building permit was issued to Trevor Maliki for an addition to his building.

Clerk Jim Van Wychen explained the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) program grant that was approved the northeast part of Monroe County was canceled because federal funds were revoked.

Treasurer Paul Shepherd explained the new tax collection procedure for the 2025 real estate taxes. A discussion was held on the additional demand for better internet connections to process tax collections. Clerk Jim Van Wychen also explained that the reports the clerk has to file have to be done electronically. After the discussion Tonya Gnewikow moved and Kade Gnewikow seconded a motion to reimburse treasurer and clerk one half cost of up acquiring Starlink satellite internet service and one half of the monthly fee. Motion passed.

Next meeting is set for Wednesday, Aug. 13. The September meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 10. No meeting will be held in October. The town’s budget meeting is Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Kade Gnewikow moved and Tonya Gnewikow seconded motion to adjourn the July 2025 Town of Scott board meeting. Motion approved.
